Maud Simmons is a teacher, painter and spiritualist. She has built a life as an artist and on that journey, learned how to define success.

A native of New York City, Maud Simmons attended The Dalton School, and went on to receive her degree in painting from The Rhode Island School of Design. She then moved to Los Angeles where she has had a diverse career in the visual arts. Maud has painted everything from props for movies to enormous murals, the largest of which was 75 feet long for the ’84 Olympics held in L.A. Her personal work keeps changing over the years. She likes to say, “I’m a binge painter. I’ll paint fish for three years, and then move on to peppers for the next three…and after that it will be images of cocktails.” Recently she has broken from strictly painting figuratively and is creating work that is purely abstract. “It’s a relief to be free from creating recognizable imagery. I now feel like the sky’s the limit.”

Maud’s work is included in numerous private collections and has recently completed large-scale commissions for The Sofitel Hotel, Los Angeles, The Bellagio Hotel and Casino, Las Vegas, The Sheraton Delfina Hotel, Santa Monica, CA, Cheyenne Mountain Resort, Colorado Springs, CO and The Borgata Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City. Maud resides in Silver Lake, California with her cat, Alice Cooper.
